Sarah Kitson is the primary customer contact for maintenance accounts. She also coordinates maintenance crew scheduling, oversees quality control, organizes safety training, and designs landscape renovations. Sarah earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Horticultural Science at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and has since become an ISA Certified Arborist. In addition to a formal education in horticulture, Sarah literally grew up in the business working at her parents' side. As one of the leading women in the local green industry she takes pride in the fact that the second generation family business is thriving. Sarah focuses on fostering the continual improvement of her employees and on the integration of sustainable business practices wherever possible.
Dave Fudurich is in charge of estimating, project management, and habitat restoration. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Horticultural Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He is also an ISA Certified Arborist, Advanced Green Gardener and has a Qualified Applicators Certificate. Dave is constantly researching new product lines and has received training and is proficient in the use of “waterwise” irrigation systems. He has extensive experience with all the major manufacturers of weather-based central and stand-alone controllers as well as high-efficiency sprinkler and drip irrigation. Growing up on the Gaviota Coast fostered Dave’s love for the natural world and he is an avid outdoorsman and naturalist. These passions dovetail nicely with his work in resource conservation and habitat restoration.
Sarah and Dave are backed by Account Managers Skip Zemer and Trina Gault, and Commercial Water Manager Kurt Russell . Skip earned a degree in Natural Resource Management with a concentration in Forestry from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and has been working in the horticulture industry for over 30 years in Santa Barbara. Skip enjoys working on projects beautifying our community and more recently became a Certified Green Gardener. Long time Santa Barbara resident Trina earned a degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Ornamental Horticulture and has from an early age appreciated the beauty and uniqueness of the plant and insect world. Trina also holds a Qualified Applicators License. Kurt came to us after working in the local irrigation supply industry for over 18 years and leads our irrigation repair and installation team. Kurt is excited to be working with the latest technology in water saving “smart” controllers. He is certified in Advanced Irrigation Technology Management and is a Level 4 Controller Repair Technician. |
We are proud of the fact that KLM Crew Leaders average over 17 years with our company. The majority of our Crew Leaders are Green Gardener certified, bilingual, and have undergone extensive safety and leadership training. Continuing education is important with all of our staff. We regularly review safety protocol, encourage learning scientific plant names, require tool certification training, present leadership coaching sessions, and offer reimbursement for adult education classes outside of the work day.
Our field crews and managers are supported by a highly efficient and responsive office staff. Suzie Schonauer fields your calls and is responsible for placing all of our plant and material orders, ensuring that nursery deliveries arrive on time and are of top quality. Office Manager Susan Ellis is responsible for accounts receivables and recently celebrated her 25 year anniversary working with the Kitson family. Bookkeeper Flavia Valle handles accounts payables, payroll, and human resources.
